Junior Tide Rugby programs are represented by male and female athletes from Southern Vancouver Island selected to compete in provincial championships.

Junior Tide Rugby PRC program is represented by male and female athletes from Southern Vancouver Island selected to compete in the U18, U16 and U14 Provincial Regional Championships (PRC). The PRC tournament features the best age grade rugby athletes from Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Vancouver Island and the BC Interior competing at UBC. The tournament takes place early July and forms part of the selection process for BC Rugby.

Junior Tide Rugby 7’s program is represented by male and female athletes from Southern Vancouver Island selected to compete in the U18 boys and girls, U16 boys, and U15 girls 7s Vancouver Invitational tournament. The tournament features the best age grade rugby athletes from Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Vancouver Island and the BC Interior competing at UBC on February 22-23. The tournament is part of the selection process for BC Rugby.

Junior Tide Rugby u19 program is represented by male athletes (born from 2006 to 2008) from Southern Vancouver Island selected to compete in the Dunbar Keg in September 2024.  The competition provides development and identification opportunities for U20 male athletes, enabling each region’s top junior boys to bridge the gap between competing in Senior competitions and help to retain them within Rugby programming.

The purpose of this policy is to outline the criteria and procedures that the Junior Tide Rugby program will adhere to and undertake to select Male and Female Age Group Teams for BC Rugby Provincial Regional Championships (PRCs), and to contribute to the development of players in each respective team.

Junior Tide Rugby gives the opportunity for promising rugby players to be challenged at a higher level and provide a direct identification pathway to the BC Bears programs.
